Suspension of Ayushman Bharat Yojana in Punjab, Bhagwant Mann to pay the dues of Punjab hospitals: JP Nadda

Punjab news,21 sep 2024

Union Health Minister JP Nadda on behalf of the Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (PHANA) in Punjab has criticized for stopping the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya (AB-PMJA) scheme. The cashless treatment under PHANA has also been stopped due to non-payment of dues of Rs.600 crore by the state government.

PHANA had said two days ago that private health facilities across Punjab will participate in these schemes only if the dues are cleared by the state government. Reacting to these incidents in Punjab, Union Health Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party President JP Nadda said that Ayushman Bharat was conceived to help economically disadvantaged families with assured medical cover. In Punjab today, people are deprived of free health services due to the poor management of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state government.

Questioning Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann , Nadda said that why Chief Minister Mann’s government did not pay the dues of private hospitals before the elections, he had said that better clinics and health centers would be provided. But today their government cannot work for the welfare of the poor.

Taking a swipe at CM Mann, JP Nadda said that he requests CM Mann to clear the dues of the hospitals as soon as possible. Because, many families especially our hardworking farmers, who are benefiting under Ayushman Bharat programme. Instead of appeasing the party unit in Delhi, Chief Minister Mann would do well to focus on the deteriorating situation in Punjab.
