Fish in Patanjali’s vegetarian products! The response sought from the center regarding the confusion, branding

The problems of Patanjali Ayurvedic Limited headed by Yoga Guru Ramdev are increasing once again. Indeed, the Delhi High Court has sought responses from the Central Government, the Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and Patanjali on petitions alleging alleged misbranding of the company’s dental care product Divya Dental Manjan.
In this regard, it has been claimed in the petition filed by advocate Yatin Sharma that Patanjali markets Divya toothpaste with green dot. This means that only vegetarian ingredients have been used in making this product. However, it contains a substance called sea foam which is actually a compound derived from fish.According to Sharma’s petition, it is a case of wrong branding under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. However, the law does not state that vegetarian or non-vegetarian labeling of medicines is mandatory. But, if the green dot is being used and the product is not completely vegan then it is a violation of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
On this petition, Delhi High Court Judge Sanjeev Narula has issued a notice to the Centre, FSSAI along with Patanjali, Ramdev, Divya Pharmacy and other concerned parties. The petitioner says that the presence of fish-based ingredients in Patanjali’s products is a shock to him and his family as he is a complete vegetarian.
