Rajindra Hospital Doctors Performed Surgeries on COVID Positive Patients Successfully
Elective Surgeries Postponed while Emergency Treatment and Urgent Nature Surgeries To Continue

Patiala, August 13: Continuing its efforts to serve COVID Infected patients wholeheartedly, Doctors from Government Rajindra Hospital, have set a new record by successfully performing emergency surgeries on 5 patients admitted in the COVID block, here. These surgeries performed under Mission Fateh have proved to be an emergency life-saving effort for COVID patients.
Divulging the details, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Paras Pandov said that to serve the COVID patients better, elective (Avoidable) surgeries have been postponed for a month while emergency treatment and urgent nature surgeries would remain continue.
Givig further details, Dr. Pandov said that a 50-year-old woman from Gyan Colony, Patiala was suffering from Gall Stone Induced Pancreatitis and underwent successful surgery. A 31-year-old woman from Nabha’s Kadd Colony was diagnosed for Exploratory and operated upon successfully.
Similarly a person from Ludhiana who was admitted to Rajindra Hospital, in emergency ward, had been successfully operated upon for Obstructed Inguinal Hernia. Similarly, a man from Mandi Gobindgarh that had a deep wound in his abdomen, underwent successful surgery and another woman was successfully operated upon for Obstructed Umbilical Hernia.
COVID Care Incharge Mrs. Surbhi Malik said that as per directives of Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, Medical Education and Research Minister Mr. O.P. Soni and under the supervision of Principal Secretary D.K. Tewari and with the coordination of the principal of the medical college, Dr. Harjinder Singh, doctors and other staff of all the departments of Rajindra Hospital are performing their duty against COVID-19 in a professional manner under ‘Mission Fateh’, which is showing good results.
Ms. Surbhi Malik further said that the Punjab Department of Medical Education and Research has taken up the issue of OPD in view of the increasing number of cases of covid. It has been decided to postpone the surgeries, which may be delayed for some time, by giving time to the patients in the hospital. Similarly, OPD at Rajindra Hospital during the days of COVID have also been reduced and the indoor ward units have been clubbed so that the patients of COVID can be taken care of on priority basis.
Dr. Harjinder Singh, Principal GMC Patiala said that doctors from all the departments of the medical college have also been mobilized for the treatment of COVID patients.
