The Election Commission has made a significant change in the voter registration process for first-time voters. Now, every new applicant filling Form-6 will be required to provide SIR (Special Intensive Revision) details of their parents. The Election Commission says that this new rule will help in making the voter list more accurate, transparent and reliable. This will make it easier to identify fake or duplicate voter records and may also reduce the need to submit additional documents in many cases. It will be mandatory to provide this information while filling Form-6 online, otherwise the application process will not proceed.
