In the third match of the five-match T20 series being played between India and England, Team India suffered a crushing 125-run defeat, due to which England has taken a strong 2-0 lead in the series. In this match played at Trent Bridge, Indian captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bowl first, but the English batsmen dominated the Indian bowlers and posted a huge score of 201 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Phil Salt played a brilliant innings of 70 runs, while Jos Buttler and Sam Curran also batted fast and put the team in a strong position. Chasing a target of 202 runs, the Indian team’s batting proved to be a complete failure and the entire team was all out for just 76 runs. None of the batsmen including Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, Tilak Verma and Shivam Dube could play a big innings. Jofra Archer and Josh Tong bowled lethally for England, breaking the back of the Indian batting. This defeat is considered one of India’s biggest defeats in T20 International cricket. After this disappointing performance, questions have been raised about the form of the team’s captaincy, coaching staff and players. If the Indian team does not improve its performance significantly in the remaining matches, then the risk of losing the series may increase.
