India’s fugitive diamond merchant Nirav Modi has received a big setback from the British High Court. The court has held Nirav Modi liable for repaying a loan on the basis of a personal guarantee in a case filed by Bank of India. According to the court’s decision, he will have to pay the principal amount of more than $ 4.1 million along with interest, the total amount of which is more than Rs 100 crore. During the hearing, Nirav Modi did not give any strong explanation. Justice Simon Tinkler said that the notices sent by the bank had reached Nirav Modi and the guarantee given by him is fully applicable. This decision is being considered another big setback on the legal front for Nirav Modi.
