Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, big decisions have been taken for the farmers. Modernizing the 26-year-old Kisan Credit Card (KCC) system, the Punjab government has made its entire process digital. The credit limit for wheat crop has been increased from Rs 24,380 to Rs 30,000 per acre, while for the first time a separate provision of Rs 2,000 per acre has also been made for stubble management. The credit limit for sugarcane farmers has been increased to Rs 1 lakh per acre and for vegetables and horticultural crops to Rs 1.57 lakh per acre. Apart from this, crops like dragon fruit, bamboo, poplar and lemongrass have also been brought under the ambit of KCC for the first time. Under the new arrangement, farmers will get KCC approval for 6 years and they will be able to easily access their funds through ATM, UPI and digital banking.
