Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s X account hacked, photos with Pakistani and Turkish flags go viral, causing uproar

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Twitter Inc. account was hacked on Sunday (September 21) morning. The hackers posted images of the flags of Pakistan and Turkey on the account, as well as live-streamed videos showing images of the two countries.

The incident occurred as India and Pakistan were preparing for the second match of the Asia Cup. Upon discovering the hack, officials immediately informed the cybercrime police, and action was taken to restore control of the X account.

Officials said the team monitoring the Deputy CM’s X handle intervened immediately. The account was restored to normal within about 30 to 45 minutes.

According to the information, the official said that such incidents raise questions about the digital security of both government officials and the public. Regular monitoring is needed to keep the information of officials safe on the X platform.

This is not the first time that an official X account has been hacked. Recently, there were reports of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) X account being hacked, where strange posts were shared. However, it was later recovered. Experts say that such incidents raise several questions about social media security. The incident has raised serious questions about the security of Elon Musk-run X. Officials and experts have said that government and political accounts require constant monitoring and enhanced security.
