An FIR has been registered on the publication of an opinion poll in connection with the Ludhiana West Vidhan Sabha by-election to be held on June 19. The FIR has been registered under Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 and Section 223 of the BNS 2023. The publication of the survey was done in violation of the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India, which prohibit the publication or broadcasting of opinion polls in electronic media during the prohibited hours (48 hours before the end of polling). The complaint was formally filed by the Returning Officer of 64-Ludhiana (West) Vidhan Sabha constituency.
