Chandigarh, May 16: The Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has congratulated today congratulated the girl students of ITIs of the state for making 10 lakh masks. Disclosing this here today the technical education and industrial training minister Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi said that Punjab ITI girl students have achieved the target of making 10 lacs masks so far who are at the top in the country in making masks among all ITIs. He said that Haryana ITI students are at second spot with only 3 lakh masks.
The Technical Education Minister said that the all the officers, principals and instructors have motivated our ITI students to contribute their bit in the fight against Covid -19 by making masks sitting at their homes. He said that this exemplary work has been done by about 4500 girl students studying Apparel Trades in 78 Govt ITIs of the state. He said that stitching of masks has been done as Sewa by the girl students. “The Principals and Staff of these ITIs went out of the way collect raw material through donations and delivered it to students at their homes and then collected masks from their places to maintain Self distancing” added Channi.
Mr. Anurag Verma Principal Secretary Technical Education, Punjab said that the best part is that the raw material has been collected through donations as by local administration NGOs, IMC Chairman’s and Industrialist. He further said that Masks have been distributed to the local administration, health workers, municipal cooperation, Covid warriors and needy persons like Aasha workers, Aganwari workers, farmers, migrant labourers free of cost.
