Canada has now given a strong blow! Parents will not get PR to live with their children, PGP program has also been banned
Canada Visa:5 jan 2025
In another drastic move on immigration, the Canadian federal government will no longer accept new applications sponsoring parents and grandparents for permanent residence in 2025. This will have the biggest impact on people of Punjabi origin. Especially those who were dreaming of living in Canada with their children.
PR holders and their parents or grandparents residing in Canada will not be eligible to apply. They may be invited on a tourist and super visa but a PR application will not be accepted. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced that by 2025, Canada will only process family sponsorship applications made under the Parent and Grandparent Program (PGP), which were submitted in 2024. IRCC intends to process a maximum of 15,000 sponsorship applications by 2025.
