In Dunnewala village in Bathinda, there has been a clash between the farmers and the police over the demand for proper compensation for the land acquired under the Bharatmala project. The police had to fire tear gas shells to disperse the farmers advancing to free the acquired land.

Last Thursday, the district administration had captured about eight kilometers of land in Dunnewala, Shergarh and Bhagwangarh villages.
The farmers are demanding a compensation of Rs 70 lakh per acre for this land. While the administration is giving him 47 lakh rupees. Today, a large number of farmers are trying to free the possession of this land. They have reached Dunnewala village. The police had to fire tear gas shells to disperse them. The situation remains tense.
