Volvo bus of PRTC going from Chandigarh to Bathinda overturned, two killed, 19 injured

A government AC bus of PRTC going from Chandigarh to Bathinda ran out of control and overturned in a roadside ditch while avoiding a tempo near Bhawanigarh before reaching Sangrur. During the accident, more than 30 passengers including the driver-conductor of the bus were seriously injured. . Immediately after the accident, the passers-by reached the spot along with the STF team and pulled out the passengers from the bus. Of the seriously injured passengers, 16 were referred to Rajindra Hospital Patiala, 03 to Civil Hospital Sangrur, while the rest were sent home after giving first aid. Two people including a woman died in this accident. . Among the deceased, Rajinder Kumar (28) son of Ram Subhag resident of Baldkallan and Gurpreet Kaur (50) resident of Tungwali district Bathinda died. The rest of the injured are undergoing treatment at Rajindra Hospital in Patiala. Jasveer Singh, SHO of Bhawanigarh police station, who reached the spot, said that the passengers injured in the accident have been admitted to the hospital, where two have died. The case is being investigated.
