Ludhiana:19 September 2024
Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal conducted a surprise inspection of Ludhiana’s civil hospital today morning. He checked medical services, on-going construction works, and availability of essential and non-essential medicines. The visit included a review of the OPD services, Mother and Child Centre, drug store, cleanliness, and detailed interactions with doctors, staff, and patients to gather suggestions for improvement.
During a meeting with doctors and others, Jorwal emphasized the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab government’s dedication to providing state-of-the-art infrastructure, quality health services, and necessary medications to patients. He asked the officials to speed up the construction work for the expansion of the mother and child centre and other development projects at the local civil hospital. He instructed the officials of Punjab Health Systems Corporation (PHSC) to provide a detailed report on the timeline for each work to ensure close monitoring of the project’s pace. He also emphasized that all development works must be completed within the specified deadlines.
The District Commissioner also gathered feedback from patients in the wards about the availability of free medicines and the behaviour of the staff. During the inspection, he discovered that a doctor had prescribed a medicine that was not available in the pharmacy. He instructed the Senior Medical Officer of Civil Hospital to probe the issue and submit a report. He stressed the importance of ensuring that patients do not encounter any difficulties in accessing services.
Following this, Jorwal directed officials to create a comprehensive plan for adequate seating arrangements for attendants in the waiting areas. He also asked the officials to ensure the installation of more CCTVs, in addition to installing boards displaying mobile numbers of ACP, local SHO, and a helpline number for the security of the doctors and other staff.
