The Petrol Pump Dealers Association (PPDA) staged a protest today by keeping the pumps closed in protest against the central government’s non-increase in commission. They have decided to keep the petrol pumps closed every Sunday to reduce their expenses.

Pump owners say that their commission has not been increased for the last 7 years. They are working on 2 percent commission while their demand is to give 5 percent commission. The association is also discussing at the district level to keep petrol pumps closed every Sunday across Punjab from August 25.

He said that the commission of all traders is increased but the commission of petrol pump owners has not been increased for the last 7 years. Today a commodity of Rs 80 has reached Rs 120 but the government is silent on increasing the commission of oil sellers

Currently, petrol pumps from Khanna to Phillaur will remain closed today. Letters are also coming from many cities in support of keeping petrol pumps closed. Banners have been placed on the petrol pumps, so that people can also know about the bad situation the petrol pump owners are going through.

Even 5 months ago, petrol pump owners went on strike for not buying oil. At that time, the central government had assured that their commission would be increased after the elections, but now the government is again ignoring them.

Emergency services on

He said that emergency services will remain operational during the weekly holiday. Ambulance and government vehicles will be given petrol or diesel. A district level meeting has been held in this regard today. Meetings will be held soon at Punjab level and state level so that the commission of petrol pump owners can be increased.
