PBA honors Hockey Olympian Gurdev Singh Kular at Guru Nanak Stadium

Gurdav Singh Kualar (90), an olympian member of Hockey Gold Medal 1956 winning Indian team at Melbourne was accorded rousing welcome by Punjab Basketball Association and players at the beats of drums when he reached Guru Nanak Stadium Ludhiana.
Gurdev Singh played alongside the great wizard Balbir Singh Sr. giving him many passes to convert into goals.
R S Gill DGP (Retd.) President of PBA & Sr. VP of Punjab Olympic Association who presided over the function also honored the Olympian with the G D Sondhi Hall OF Fame memento.
R S Gill asked the sports department to display history with pictures of outstanding Olympians and other key players in schools and stadiums so that generations are impressed upon to play. Gurdev Singh Kullar recalled the golden hocky moments at Melbourne Olympic games.
Present on the occasion were Arjuna Awardee Col. Balbir Singh Olympian, Arjuna Awardi B S Gill,Captain of Indian Football Team,Baldev Singh Hocky Dronacharya Awardee, Teja Singh Dhaliwal PBA Gen Secretary,Rupinder Singh DSO, Jagaroop Singh Jarkhar, Cap Ajit Gill, J P Singh DBA President, Dr Mukti Gill, Brij Goyal and Rajinder Singh from DBA .Teja Singh Dhaliwal also made an appeal to the government to sincerely promote sports by nurturing youth from their teenage in schools. He promised to honour old outstanding players further. He also informed that father of Gurdev Singh Subedar Thakar Singh was also a member of Indian Hocky Team in 1926 which played at New Zealand. Sportspersons which were present in large numbers keenly went for photo -op with the octogenarian.
