Patiala, August 19: District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kumar Amit appealed to the people not to get panic by the increasing number of Corona cases in the district in wake of extensive sampling. Cautionaing the People of rumours of paucity of beds in district isolation centers, he said that more than 50 per cent of the beds in the government and private hospitals in the district lying unoccupied.  The information is being updated daily on the District Administration website https://patiala.nic.in/.
Deputy Commissioner further said that in view of the extensive sampling and increase in the number of COVID patients in the district, all arrangements have been made and the people have not been got panicky of any rumors and should rely on the information, officially provided by the district administration. He said that as per the current status of unoccupied and occupied beds for COVID patients in the district, 62 percent of the beds in Level-2 and 56 percent in Level-3 were lying vacant in the government isolation Facilities. While in private hospitals, 59 per cent beds in Level-1 and Level-2 and 55 per cent beds in Level-3 are unoccupied for COVID patients.  He said that a total capacity of 3700 beds in the district has been pre-arranged and there should be no panic among the people as there is no problem of space or facility required for treatment.  He said that more than 62,000 samples have been taken in the district till last evening in view of the increased COVID sampling, out of which more than 56 thousand have been tested negative, out of which 2681 patients have won on COVID.
He said that the district administration has made all possible arrangements to contain the COVID  in the district.  The administrative officers have also been deployed to help the doctors including the COVID care center at Government Rajindra Hospital and COVID Care Center Meritorious School. Rajindra Hospital COVID Care Center is being monitored by PDA Chief Administrator  Mrs. Surbhi Malik while Meritorious School by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr.  Preeti Yadav.
He said that the people of the district could play a major role to stop further spread of COVID-19 by taking all possible precautions, therefore the people should completely follow the guidelines laid down by the government in Patiala city of Curfew from 9 pm to 5 am daily while remaining closed their businesses barring essential services on Saturdays and Sundays. He also made appeal to patialavis for regular use of face masks,maintaining social distance, washing or sanitizing their hands frequently to prevent themselves from the CORONAVIRUS contraction.
