ਵਾਸ਼ਿੰਗਟਨ – ਇੰਮੀਗ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਡੀ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ 21 ਸਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਉਮਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਪੱਕੇ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਇਜ਼ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਪੁੱਜੇ ਜਾਂ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਰਹੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਕੋਲ ਆਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇੰਮੀਗ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਅਰਜ਼ੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਬੈਕਲਾਗ ਕਾਰਨ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਮਾਮਲਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ 21 ਸਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਟੱਪ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਗਰੀਨ ਕਾਰਡ ਦੇ ਹੱਕ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਝੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ।

The Biden administration announced a policy manual update – a move seen as a small but important step in addressing the woes of the aged-out children, a large number of whom are Indians, who came to the US legally with their parents.
For a child to obtain lawful permanent resident status in the United States based on their parent’s approved petition for a family-sponsored or employment-based visa, the child generally must be under the age of 21. If the child turns 21 and “ages out” during the immigration process, the child generally is no longer eligible to immigrate with the parent based on the parent’s petition.Under this new guidance, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will now use the Dates for Filing chart to calculate these noncitizens’ ages for CSPA purposes, which provides these noncitizens with more certainty about their eligibility to adjust their status.
